Week 1

Week 2

Week 3

  • Know what the main components that make up an operating system are. Understand the boot process of an operating system.
  • Be able to install an operating system.
  • Create a file using the Windows and Linux operating systems.

Week 4

  • Recognize the positive as well as negative impacts of the Internet such as privacy and security.
  • Understand the basics of computer networking.
  • Understand the basics of how data travels across the Internet.

Week 5

  • Be able to install software on Windows and Linux.

About the Course: This course is the first of a series that aims to prepare you for a role as an entry-level IT Support Specialist. In this course, you’ll be introduced to the world of Information Technology, or IT. You’ll learn about the different facets of Information Technology, like computer hardware, the Internet, computer software, troubleshooting, and customer service. This course covers a wide variety of topics in IT that are designed to give you an overview of what’s to come in this certificate program.

By the end of this course, you’ll be able to:
